Everybody Sings concert set Sunday at Rising Phoenix Hall
Everybody Sings, a community choir directord by Carol Negro, will perform at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rising Phoenix Hall.
The concert will be “Songs of Gratitude and Praise.” The choir sings all types of chorus music from modern composers to American traditional songs, hymns, medieval madrigals, show tunes, Zulu and Hebrew songs of joy and celebration.
A $10 donation is suggested for the concert Sunday.
Negro also is organizing a Sing Along Messiah for Dec. 18. Sing Along Messiah is an informal performance of Handel’s Messiah in which the audience serves as the unrehearsed chorus, often supported by a prepared core group. Handel is said to have been divinely inspired in writing the Messiah over 250 years ago and that multitude of angles come listen whenever it is performed. Handel himself said, “I did think I did see all Heaven before me, and the great God Himself,” after he wrote the Hallejuah Chorus.
Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons at Divine Mother Church. The rehearsals are open to anyone who wants to learn the music before the performance. Those attending should be prepared to chip in for room rental. Music will be on hand and available for purchase if so desired.
