FAIRfest fabulous public event
Fairfield’s population just received an incredible, free gift.
June 21-23 we had the opportunity to enjoy fabulous, free entertainment during four days. More than 50 groups provided entertainment during Fairfest 2013.
During my 30-plus years in Fairfield I have never experienced anything like this. The outdoor stage was out of this world fabulous. The sound systems and the sound engineering were impressive and mostly flawless. The range of musical styles was so wide that most people could find something to enjoy.
There were performers from both coasts and many places in between.
There was also a nice selection of local performers.
I calculated that it would probably have cost $500 to $1,000 to enjoy each of these groups in individual concerts. Yet, Fairfield got it all for free. Thank you to co-organizers James Moore and Roland Wells of our community radio station KRUU 100.1 FM, who worked for months without pay to make this event a reality.
Thank you to the private donors locally and outside of our community who contributed lots of the green stuff to pay the bills.
Thank you to all the local businesses who donated products and services to feed and house all the entertainers.
Thank you to all the volunteers who enabled Fairfest 2013 to move along smoothly.
In addition to the music there were presentations by well known speakers, chefs etc.
The weather presented some challenges. The indoor, main stage at the Sondheim Theatre did however provide respite from the heat and from the short rainfall.
I suggest that anyone with constructive suggestions for (hopefully) future events contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope that once the organizers get some sleep and time off, they will decide to work to make this an annual event. Thank you for this wonderful gift and congratulations on a job well done.
