Fairfield baseball team could play at BuschTrojans have the chance to play after the St. Louis Cardinals
The Fairfield High School baseball team could soon get the opportunity of a lifetime.
The team has the chance to play at Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals, on July 6, 2014, against the Wilton Beavers.
There are many reasons for the players to be excited. Each team will sit in the professional dugouts, the scoreboard will be operating and the public address announcer will be introducing each player that comes up to bat. Players may even get the chance to select their own walk-up music when they come up to bat.
The Trojan Athletic Boosters and the parent committee are seeking support from local businesses to secure pledges to purchase tickets to the game. The parent committee and the student athletes will be selling tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Miami Marlins game, which in turn will get the ticket holders into the Fairfield game, which is being played afterwards.
These tickets are $30 because of this promotion. Ideas that are being thrown around for perks for local businesses to contribute, include giving the tickets away to employees for a weekend getaway in St. Louis, or even giving tickets away in raffles or prize drawings. Other possibilities are being considered.
Individual ticket sales by players will begin late this fall. This event could also help raise funds for the Bill Strawhacker Memorial Challenge.
Business owners who wish to contribute can call Mary Ellis at 919-2672, Rhonda Whitney at 919-7548, or Josh Allison at 919-5770.
