Fairfield care giver extends helping hand
To the editor:
Your community has an outstanding care giver that needs to be recognized. Sarah Flattery, the Admissions and Social Services Director of The Oaks Assisted Living, went above and beyond the call of duty to make lasting memories for our family.
My dad, Roy Billingsley, is a resident at that facility and we wanted him to be able to attend my daughter’s wedding in Cedar Falls Aug. 2. The only family members that could have executed that task would have been my sister and her family, but we had them in Cedar Falls earlier in the week to help with the wedding and Dad is not comfortable staying outside of The Oaks overnight. Sarah drove Dad up for the pictures, the ceremony and the dinner and then drove him back to The Oaks that evening. Our family and local friends feel blessed to have someone like Sarah that helped make our dreams come true.
At age 94, my dad got to see the first of his grandchildren get married. When we expressed our gratitude to Sarah all she would say is, “it’s just the thing to do to help people.”
Thank you, Sarah.
