Fairfield girls' golf takes seventh in Burlington
The Fairfield girls’ golf team was only able to take four golfers to Central Lee Friday.
Olivia Hammel shot a 94, while Lindsey Repp got a 99. Abby Adam shot a 116.
Brooke Stever, who normally would not be in the varsity lineup, stepped up and shot a 139.
“I was impressed with how Brooke was able to step into our fourth spot,” Fairfield coach Joe Kruzich said. “She improved by 11 strokes on her back nine and really had a good experience.”
Back at full strength, the Trojans finished seventh Monday at the Burlington Greyhound Invitational.
Pleasant Valley won the tournament with 333 points, while Fairfield shot a 400. Mt. Pleasant, Davenport Assumption and Washington were among the teams that topped the Trojans.
Repp took seventh place overall, and her 88 was the top shooting day for Fairfield. Repp, Adam and Madelyn Swan all shot career lows. Swan earned a 95 and Adam got a 102.
“The girls were really striking the ball well today and doing the things that they need to do in order to get a lower score on the card,” Kruzich said. “I love the fire that is starting to come out in them.”
Hammel (115), Kylee Marlay (117) and Taylor Marlay (125) rounded out the varsity lineup.
