Fairfield girls’ golf team falls Monday
MOUNT PLEASANT — The Trojan girls’ golf team saw Mount Pleasant’s best and fell by 53 strokes, 193-246, in a Southeast Conference dual Monday.
Lindsey Repp, a freshman, posted the Trojans’ lowest score with a 53.
“They’re a pretty good team. They lost their best golfer, Natalie Booton, but they have four or five really good golfers who shoot about the same. They’re real consistent,” Fairfield head coach Joe Kruzich said of Mount Pleasant. “We got their best effort, and that was their lowest score yet. They’ve been averaging closer to 200 this season.”
Competing without senior Ashley Henkel, the team’s No. 2, the Trojan girls still finished right around their team average thanks to consistency after Repp.
Freshman Madelyn Swan and senior Kristen Terrell both fired rounds of 64. Freshman Abby Adam and senior Claire Slechta both shot their lowest scores of the season at 65 and 66, respectively.
“Our bottom two girls have shown a lot of improvement. It’s good to see those girls coming along and hopefully we can continue to get them lower and lower,” said Kruzich.
The Trojans are now 3-3 and return home to host other conference foes Keokuk and Washington on Thursday.
