Fairfield High School in need of updates
To the editor:
Fairfield High School, my alma mater and that of my two daughters, is and always has been a fine institution of higher learning — but one now in need of some major updates if it is to continue to serve our community as well as it has for the past 70 years! The time is now to provide the faculty and staff with the kind of building they need to continue to offer our students the opportunity for a world-class education.
On April 2, we have the chance to approve a bond issue which will generate the funds to make FHS a place for our students to learn in safety and comfort, with the first-rate facilities they deserve. The school board has presented us with a comprehensive plan which will greatly improve air quality, accessibility, security and traffic flow. Classroom spaces, especially those for the sciences and the arts, will be updated and enlarged. Space will be better utilized for athletic areas and storage. And all of this can be accomplished without increasing the school portion of our property taxes.
I encourage everyone to vote on April 2, and to vote “yes” for our teachers and our students!
