Fairfield JV boys storm back for 46-42 win
Alex Crile hit a 3-pointer in the final minute Thursday and the Fairfield JV boys erased a 17-point deficit to claim a 46-42 victory over Iowa City Regina.
Crile hit two treys in the contest and finished with eight points, while Jordan Reid scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to give the Trojans a boost when they needed one most. Alex Simpson scored a game-high 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting, and the sophomore hauled in nine boards.
The Trojans trailed by double-digits in the second quarter as well as the first minutes in the third period before cutting down on their mistakes.
“We were not ready to start, but the defense was better in the second half. We did a better job on our transition offense, as well,” said Fairfield coach Glenn Perkins.
Fairfield’s Trevor Drish provided four points, and Keagan Drish and Tanner Deao dished out three assists each. Cody Craff scored three points on a trey.
The Trojans also fell to Keokuk 68-42 on Monday and will be on the Chiefs’ court Friday.
