Fairfield JV squads travel to Keokuk, Pella
PELLA — Pella claimed a 43-35 win over the Fairfield JV girls’ basketball team Saturday in Pella.
Freshman Mackenzie Flattery led the Trojan offense with nine points, and sophomores Karley Williams and Mackenzie McClure scored eight each.
Madison Roberts finished with five points and four rebounds. Taylor Ferrel had two points and three boards, and Delaney Neil also scored two points.
The JV squad returns home to face Chariton today and finishes up the season with a game at Fort Madison Thursday. All the JV and varsity players will be recognized at Friday’s home game vs. Fort Madison.
JV boys drop pair
The Fairfield boys’ JV basketball team was hit by 39 turnovers in a pair of road losses over the weekend.
The Trojans fell to Keokuk 57-47 in Southeast Conference action Friday, and they dropped a 33-30 non-conference game to Pella on Saturday.
In Friday’s loss, freshman Jordan Reid paced the Trojans with 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting from the field, and sophomore teammate Alex Simpson finished with 12 points and three steals.
Jordan Whitney, Trevor Drish and Nick Higgins scored five points apiece. Alex Crile had three points and Tanner Deao finished with three points and two assists.
Against Pella, Reid again led the Trojans offensively with eight points, and he also chipped in two steals on the defensive end. Whitney and Simpson scored six points each, and Simpson also had three steals.
Deao added five points with two steals. Keith Burns scored three points and Crile netted two.
The Trojans will be back in action today at Chariton before returning home for a game vs. Fort Madison on Friday.
