Fairfield library hosting local author
The Fairfield Public Library will host local author Ulrike Selleck at 7:30 p.m. April 13.
Selleck is a healing voice expert and fourth-generation musician and classical singer and author of “Sing Yourself Well in 7 Seconds: Free Your Voice and Change Your Life.”
Selleck will give a talk and demonstration about the vital power of a person’s voice and how to discover the forgotten key to health and happiness.
Selleck said that 25 years ago when she faced a major health crisis, Dr. Deepak Chopra told her: “If you want to heal, you have to learn to sing, speak up, and express yourself!”
After learning a person uses only 20 percent of his or her voice and breath in daily life, Selleck wondered: what if there’s a connection between using this tiny fraction and all the major health concerns today?
Selleck learned that depression, anxiety, asthma, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes and heart disease are all are symptoms of a constricted energy.
Now, Selleck is teaching what she learned: A person needs to use his or her full voice; the “normal” 20 percent is not enough.
In her new book, Selleck shares her personal story, and explains why people don’t sing, why people absolutely need to, and how to do it, quickly, holistically, and in a fun way.
