Fairfield library hosting ‘Suspiciously Nutritious’
The Fairfield Public Library will host “Suspiciously Nutritious,” a free event for elementary school-aged children and their families to enjoy free snacks and learn information about health, fitness and nutrition, from 2-4 p.m. Saturday.
This is the first time the library has tried this event, and Youth Services Librarian Afton Hallauer is excited about tying together a variety of health-related elements.
“Come sample some fun, healthy and low-cost snacks that you and your family can make at home,” said Hallauer.
Booths will be manned by volunteers from the Rotaract Club of Fairfield, as well as representatives from Fairfield Park and Recreation Department, Blue Zones, Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store, Jefferson County Health Center, and local restaurants.
Each booth is designed to include hands-on activities for children and helpful ideas for parents who are balancing budget with sound nutrition.
