Fairfield Media Center to broadcast live from festival
Fairfield Media Center will be broadcasting live Saturday during Fairfield’s All Things Italian Street Festival on the Fairfield square, starting at 6:30 p.m., though the festival begins at 5 p.m.
FMC intends to highlight the events, not film the festival in its entirety.
“Once people see the excitement live as it is happening, they will want to come out and be a part of it” said Jason Strong, FMC coordinator.
To watch the live broadcasts online go to www.fairfieldmediacenter.com and click on “Live Events.”
“This is the largest single night event of the year,” said Strong, “This will be the first time the media center has gone live from the square.
“We expect broadcasting live will help support the unique variety of events by generating excitement and giving those not able to come out a chance to be part of the evening.”
FMC has been streaming the Fairfield City Council meetings for the past several months to test the equipment needed for this project. Strong appreciates the support they received throughout the community to make live streaming a reality, especially local Internet provider LISCO for providing the bandwidth needed.
“There are so many events going on in Fairfield; All Things Italian, FAIRfest, the 175th birthday of Fairfield, not to mention our monthly art walks and other community activities,” he said. “It’s a lot to cover and with today’s technology anyone with a smart phone or tablet can get access to FMC’s live stream broadcast right at their fingertips.”
FMC encourages anyone else filming events to showcase the film on FMC’s channel. The process is user friendly, said Strong.
“Just upload your video to YouTube and send the link to firstname.lastname@example.org,” he said. “It doesn’t get much easier than that, right?”
The media center loans video equipment and could use volunteers to help film. To volunteer for Saturday’s All Things Italian Street Festival filming, contact Bryan Hawthorne at 233-7133 or email email@example.com.
