Fairfield soccer team wins title
The Fairfield U19 boys soccer team won the gold medal at the Iowa Games, a tournament that lasted Friday-Sunday. Fairfield suffered its only defeat of the tournament to the Otho Mighty Ducks 5-1 Friday. On Saturday, the team beat the Basic Beez (Charles City) 6-3 and Osky United (Pleasant Hill) 13-2 to earn a spot in the championship game Sunday. In the title game, the team got its revenge against the Mighty Ducks and won 5-3. “It was a great match and we showed our quality,” coach Felisto Guezimane said. “[We had] great team work throughout the tournament and it’s a well deserved championship.” The team is, from left, front row: Brayden Miller, Eric Swan, Austin Winslow; back row: Kolten Webber, Chaysten Titus, Tomas Bousquet, Solomon Constant, Niko Thiel, Shawn Spurrier, Davin Titus and Felisto Guezimane (coach).
