Farewell reception planned Sunday afternoon for Kochs

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will host a farewell reception for Keevin and Marcia Koch from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

Community members are welcome to come say good-bye to the Kochs before they relocate to Spring Hill, Tenn., to be near their three children and two grandchildren.

The Kochs moved to Fairfield from Fairday, La., in 1975 to fill the pulpit at the Church of Christ on South B Street. Then, for 15 years, they drove to Oskaloosa every Sunday where they were the children’s church ministers. Since then, Keevin Koch has served for many as a guest minister. He also has helped with many sporting events in the Fairfield schools.

He also worked as a produce manager for Giant, Easter’s, EconoFoods and Hy-Vee grocery stores in Fairfield.

Marcia Koch taught first grade at Lincoln Elementary School for eight years, then second grade at Washington elementary for another eight years before she retired from teaching.
