FHS students performing at All-State Speech Festival

PHOTO SUBMITTED Fairfield High School students Coren Hucke, left, and Josiah Wilbur gave performances designated as “All-State Outstanding” at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Events State Speech Contest March 9. Wilbur will perform at the all-state festival.

The Fairfield High School speech team received 13 division I ratings and five division II ratings at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Events State Speech Contest March 9 at Vinton-Shellsburg High School.

In addition, Coren Hucke’s and Josiah Wilbur’s performances were designated as “All-State Outstanding.”

Hucke performed an excerpt from Carl Sagan’s “A Pale Blue Dot” in the area of public address.

Wilbur performed an improvisation that included a baker, a harmonica player and the situation of sneaking into the movies.

Wilbur will be performing at the IHSSA Individual Events All-State Speech Festival March 25 on the University of Northern Iowa campus in Cedar Falls.
