First Presbyterian plans jazz service, spaghetti dinner
First Presbyterian Church will present a special service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday featuring the Fairfield All Star Jazz Band.
The Rev. Joe Phipps, pastor of the church, invites community members to attend the “enlightening and inspirational” service.
Phipps will mix scripture and an inspirational message, with special music performed by church organist Betty Mayer and the 16-piece jazz ensemble.
Songs to be performed include: “Prayer Meetin’,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” “Lean on Me,” “What a Wonderful World” and others.
Members of the Fairfield All Star Jazz Band performing at the service include Gary Roth, Ken Burns, Rodger Gillaspie, Fred Hucke, Sue Hucke, Francis Thicke, Jim Edgeton, Tim Nelson, Claudia Sloat, LeAnne Edgeton, Sue Burns, Ken Norton, Mark McCabe, Duncan Phipps and Zach Reiter.
Following the service, spaghetti dinner will be served by the Rev. Joe and Mary Phipps. Reservations are not requested, but are appreciated. Reservations can be made by calling the church office at 472-4315.
A freewill offering will be accepted for the dinner.
Everyone is welcome to attend both the special service and the dinner.
