Flag ceremony, band concert set Tuesday
The Fairfield Municipal Band will begin its traditional summer concert series at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Ron Prill Bandstand in Central Park.
The first concert will be preceded by the Fairfield Elks’s annual Flag Day ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
With the assistance of Boy Scout Troop 64, the Fairfield Elks Lodge No. 1192 will give a history of the US flags as they have progressed through history, with the various flags on display.
The speaker will be Van Buren Elementary School student Kamryn Banks of Keosauqua, who was awarded second place in the Elks’s statewide “What Our Flag Means to Me” patriotic essay contest.
The Fairfield Municipal Band is scheduled to present a concert at 8 p.m. each Tuesday through July 29 in the park. Sometimes, due to weather and based on availability, the concert could move to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
Those attending the Elks’s flag ceremony and the Fairfield Municipal Band concerts should bring lawn chairs.
