Flint knapping class set
Registration is under way for a four-session class on the ancient art of flint knapping, with Avi Pogel at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center.
The class is set from 7:30-9:30 p.m. four consecutive Mondays Nov. 12 through Dec. 3.
Each session will build on the one before to teach participants the techniques needed in making a projectile point.
Because of the time involved in learning this skill and the one-on-one instruction required, the program is limited to seven participants. Participants must be 14 years old or older.
The fee is $120 per student. All supplies will be provided.
Pogel grew up in Fairfield and has a degree in anthropology from Grinnell College.
