FMS boys run Tuesday
BURLINGTON — The Fairfield Middle School boys’ track teams kicked off the season Tuesday in Burlington.
Michael Fritz won both the discus and shot put for the Trojan eighth-graders, who finished second in the six-team field with 105.5 points. Also winning for Fairfield was the shuttle hurdle relay team made up of Brayden Miller, Bailey Jones, Kyle Roberts and Brandon Smithburg.
Fairfield received runner-up finishes from Cam Baumann in the discus, Alex Conrad in the shot put and Smithburg in the 100-meter hurdles. Third-place times were earned by Roberts in the 200-hurdles, Miller in the 400-dash as well as several relays. Austin Winslow, Navin Martin, Collin Williams and Elijah Parr came in third in the 4x800, and the sprint medley team of Baumann, Denver Schultz, Soren Buch and Eric Swan earned bronze. Baumann, Buch, Parr and Miller finished third in the 4x400, as did Fritz, Chris Hanson, Smithburg and Roberts in the 4x100.
Seventh-graders finish third
BURLINGTON — Steeler Higdon won the discus and placed second in both the 200- and 400-dashes, and the Trojan seventh-graders claimed third place Tuesday with a score of 93.
Also winning for the Trojan seventh-graders was the 4x200 team of James Lyman, Blu Schultz, Graham Kuehl and Dakota Storto. Max Sullivan, Darren Roberts, Stetson Speas and Aaron Haines claimed second place in the 4x800; Hunter Hoskins, Hunter Drish, Lyman and Sullivan finished second in the shuttle hurdle relay; and Connor Ryan, Roberts, Haines and Storto claimed second place in the 4x400.
Sullivan was third in the open-800. The foursome of Drish, Schultz, Hoskins and Higdon tacked on a third-place finish in the 4x100.
