FMS honors Students of Month
Each school month, the Fairfield Elks Lodge sponsors the Fairfield Middle School “Students of the Month” award, which acknowledges students’ positive contributions at school ranging from assisting teachers and peers in classroom activities to displaying characteristics as a role model in and out of the classroom.
Students of the Month certificates are awarded after a nomination and voting process is completed by each grade-level teaching team.
Ella Phillips is a fifth-grade student of the month. According to her certificate, “Ella takes her time to finish her work and always gives her best effort on whatever she does. She is a logical thinker, and is a student that her peers can count on to give an explanation of how to solve problems. Ella is respectful to everyone and can always be counted on to be a quiet leader. She is very mature and is a model student for showing Trojan PRIDE.”
Jeremiah “JJ” Funkhouser is a fifth-grade student of the month. According to his certificate, “JJ has consistently given his best throughout this academic year. He works well with others in his class. He has a great attitude toward school and is always willing to help a peer or staff member. JJ also shows great Trojan PRIDE consistently.”
Cameron Achey is a fifth-grade student of the month. His certificate states, “Cameron has demonstrated a good attitude, which has helped him be successful. He has shown lots of progress throughout the year in reading and math. He is respectful of others, always prepared for class, and can be depended upon to do the right thing.”
Maria Horn is a fifth-grade student of the month. Her certificate states, “Maria works very hard in class and is friendly to all students. She has a great attitude and contributes positively to class. She consistently shows Trojan PRIDE in and out of the classroom.”
Jenna Wickenkamp is a sixth-grade student of the month. According to her certificate, “Jenna is extremely helpful in the classroom by often asking to do extra jobs and tasks that need to be done that no one else wants to do. She is responsible, works hard, and is pleasant to be around. Jenna shows her Trojan Pride by being dependable and respectful to her peers and teachers each and every day.”
Caden Jones is a sixth-grade student of the month. His certificate states, “Caden works extremely well with others and has a positive attitude towards learning and sharing each day. He is a hard-working student who challenges himself to think outside the box and do his best at all times. Caden is very respectful of those around him.”
Kristin Burnstedt is a seventh-grade student of the month. Her certificate states, “Kristin is a hard worker, always striving to do her absolute best. She wants to do a great job, and takes immense pride in her work. She’s also shown a commitment to be a good team member and help her classmates.”
Wyatt Young is a seventh-grade student of the month. His certificate states, “Wyatt has shown tremendous improvement in academics this year. He has consistently shown responsibility by being aware of the work being asked of him, and puts in the time needed to accomplish the task. Wyatt has made school a top priority and demonstrates a genuine desire to learn, and this will serve him well next year and beyond.”
Sarah Swanson is an eighth-grade student of the month. Her certificate states, “Sarah is a quiet leader in the classroom. She comes to class each day prepared and eager to learn. She has a cheerful and encouraging attitude and shows great respect towards her teachers and peers.Sarah strives to always complete assignments/projects to the best of her ability and encourages others to do the same. Sarah Swanson truly exemplifies our Trojan PRIDE qualities.”
Matthew McLain is an eighth-grade student of the month. His certificate states, “We have seen tremendous growth in Matthew this year, as he has matured he has become a much more serious student. He has become a great example of how to have fun yet get work completed. Matthew has been active in FMS drama during middle school and has really developed as an actor as well. We expect great things from Matthew McLain as he begins his HS career.”
