FMS recognizes April Students of the Month
Each school month, the Fairfield Elks Lodge sponsors the Fairfield Middle School “Students of the Month” award to acknowledge positive contributions of students ranging from helping teachers and peers in classroom activities to displaying characteristics as a role model in and out of the classroom.
The Students of the Month certificates are awarded after a nomination and voting process is completed by each grade-level teaching team.
Laila Henaghan earned April Student of the Month honors for fifth grade. According to her certificate, “She is a great leader in the classroom, taking charge and is seen always trying to do the right thing. She can be found in the classroom after school and at recesses cleaning up after others and making sure the school is kept clean and safe.”
Chris Hulett was named an April Student of the Month for fifth grade. According to his certificate, “Chris has been working extra hard in math in past chapter. He went above and beyond, correctly answering all but one question correctly on his math test. He will be in enrichment math for this chapter due to his hard work and focus in class. He has been working on showing Trojan PRIDE in the classroom by coming to class prepared with his assignment journal every day. [His teacher] can depend on him to take his homework home and have his assignments done when he needs to.”
The sixth-grade team selected David Burrell-Burnett as an April Student of the Month. According to his certificate, “David is always willing to help his classmates or the teacher with any task. Many times he does this without any suggestion from his teachers. David is a conscientious student and turns in quality work. He is a leader in the classroom and exemplifies Trojan PRIDE on a daily basis.”
Torrie Lisk also was selected by her teachers as a sixth-grade April Student of the Month. According to her certificate, “She is prepared to learn every day and is extremely dependable on getting work done on time. Torrie displays a great work ethic and positive attitude, striving to do her best at all times.”
Shaelyn Thompson was selected as a seventh-grade Student of the Month for April. According to her certificate, “Shaelyn is always completing high quality work. She is very detail-oriented and exceeds expectations on her work. Shaelyn has a very positive attitude and has hit the ground running at FMS. She shows Trojan PRIDE by being respectful and kind toward everyone.”
Nick Frisbie was selected as a seventh-grade Student of the Month for April. According to his certificate, “Nick displays an attitude that is consistently positive and upbeat. He always participates in class discussions and activities, contributing to his and his classmates learning. Nick also has a way to set an optimistic tone in class and helps motivate his classmates.”
Max Sullivan was selected as an eighth-grade Student of the Month for April. According to his certificate, “Max is a young man who shows great character in and out of the classroom. He comes prepared for class and can be depended upon to always put forth his best effort. Max has also been part of the IdEA team that organized eighth grade activity day and has continued to schedule and set up for the games throughout the school year. We are confident that Max Sullivan will do extremely well in high school.”
Brittney Schaefer was selected as an eighth-grade Student of the Month for April. Her certificate states, “Our team recognizes Brittney’s hard work and the effort she puts into ALL her assignments.Always prepared and respectful, Brittney is a leader through her actions. As someone who can be trusted to do the right thing, Brittney shows integrity in her actions. Through her persistence and desire to do well, Brittney has shown she is dependable. In all aspects of Trojan PRIDE, we feel Brittney is an excellent choice for our Student of the Month recognition.”
