Fog arrives tonight, light freezing rain Friday
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of north central Illinois, northwest Illinois, west central Illinois, east central Iowa, northeast Iowa, southeast Iowa, including Jefferson County, and northeast Missouri.
After midnight, patchy areas of fog will develop across the outlook area. The fog may become locally dense with visibilities below a half mile toward daybreak Thursday.
Areas of dense fog with visibilities less than a half mile should continue Thursday.
A cold front will sag into the area Thursday night and Friday. This will produce rain, freezing rain and snow. However, precipitation amounts should be on the light side.
This weekend, a potent winter storm with the potential for high impacts will track from the southern plains into the Ohio Valley.
While initially there may be a period of freezing rain, snow and sleet on Saturday, moderate to possibly heavy snowfall and strong winds are expected Saturday night and Sunday across much of the outlook area.
