Free film Friday at Fairfield library
The Fairfield Public Library will show a free movie Friday, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
The free movie is a 2016 American science fiction film based on the 1998 short story “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang. The American Film Institute selected it as one of its 10 Movies of the Year, and it was nominated for numerous awards. In the movie, when mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team lead by an expert linguist are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, The linguist and the team race against time for answers, and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
The movie is rated PG-13, and the running time is one hour and 56 minutes.
Organic popcorn and water will be available for a donation. Donations for popcorn, water and the film are used to help the library renew its movie licenses.
The library’s movie license does not allow it to advertise the title of the movie.
