Freshmen, sophomores run in Burlington
BURLINGTON — Jordan Reid picked up a win in the high jump and was also on the winning sprint medley relay team Monday at the 27th annual freshman-sophomore Ralph White Relays in Burlington.
The freshman led the Trojans with a leap of 5-feet, 2-inches in the high jump, and he teamed up with Jacob Unkrich, Narendra Martin and Zach Martin in the sprint medley for a winning time of 4:01.60.
Also for Fairfield, sophomore Zane Richmond placed second in the 1600 in 5:00, and he was fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:14. Fellow rookie Logan Angstead was third in the 110-meter hurdles (20.37), and Martin finished fourth in the 400 (55.06).
The Trojan boys finished fifth in the final team standings with a score of 50. Muscatine scored 132 to win the meet title.
Girls place sixth
Fairfield’s Mackenzi Harwood, Taylor Ferrel and Emma and Gabrielle Kuehl teamed up to finish fourth in both the 4x100 and (56.71) and 4x200 (2:00.96) Monday at the freshman-sophomore Ralph White Relays in Burlington.
Olivia Wallerich finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:24.37) and Brittany Hoskins was fifth in the 400 (1:10.64) for Fairfield, which finished sixth overall with 16 points. Davenport West’s 158 points topped the field.
