Friends of Lake Darling sponsors trip
Friends of Lake Darling are sponsoring a group bus trip Jan. 25 to the Herbert Hoover Museum in West Branch for the opening day of the Jay “Ding” Darling exhibit.
“This is very exciting as there will be a special presentation by Samuel Klotinsky, executive producer of Marvo Entertainment Group ... regarding our local cartoonist, conservation activist and Pulitzer prize winner Ding Darling, for whom Lake Darling State Park was named,” said Michelle Redlinger, executive director of the Washington Chamber of Commerce.
Koltinsky produced the documentary “America’s Darling, The Story of Jay N. “Ding” Darling.
“Koltinsky has some surprises in store,” said Redlinger. “The Friends will have some announcements.”
The exhibit will include artwork by Darling and artifacts new to the public’s eye.
Only 35 seats are available for the trip. If enough interest is shown, another trip may be planned in February or March.
For reservations and information, call Fay Vittetoe, president of Friends of Lake Darling, at 319-694-2815. The cost is $30 if registering before Jan. 20; $35 if registering after Jan. 20. The cost for youth age 15 and younger is $20.
The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from Brighton and at 8:30 a.m. from Washington.
