Fritz wins gold medal
The Fairfield Trojan boys’ track and field squad finished fourth overall in the 10-team Dennis Anderson Meet in Eddyville on Tuesday.
Trojan Michael Fritz took the gold medal in the discus with a winning toss of 136 feet, 1 inch. Teammate Tristin Waugh also earned points, finishing fourth (109-6).
Out of 20 competitors, Fairfield’s Kosta Papazoglou took fifth place in the 100-meter dash (12.480) and teammate Alex Sisomphane finished seventh (12.83).
Trojan Matthew Swanson finished ninth out of 20 competitors in the 200.
Fairfield’s Drew Martin finished fifth overall in the 800 (2:27.47).
Trojan Mark Diers finished fifth overall in the 1,600 (5:23.18). Teammate Bryan Wilkins finished seventh in the 3,200.
Teammate Hunter Drish finished fourth overall in the long jump (18-07.5).
Also competing well for Fairfield were Nathan Mathis (400), Brittan Bowman (1,600, shuttle hurdle relay) and Dakota Storto (long jump, distance medley relay).
