GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY
DES MOINES — Recognition for outstanding academic achievement for the 2013 fall semester has been given to three Grand View University students from the local area.
Those who earned recognition were Veronica Payne of Fairfield, Sarah Wells of Douds and Lindsay Albert of Eldon.
The students are named to the dean’s list for earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying at least 12 hours of classes.
UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY
FAYETTE — Carissa Nelson of Bonaparte was named to the Upper Iowa University 2013 Fall Dean’s List.
To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade-point average for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student.
Nelson, a member of the UIU women’s basketball team, also was named to the UIU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for Fall 2013.
The athletic department will recognize 179 student-athletes who earned a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll Friday between the men’s and women’s basketball games against Concorida University, St. Paul.
To earn consideration for the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have earned a minimum 3.20 grade-point average during the 2013 fall semester. In years past, the standard was 3.0, but it was raised last year to encourage UIU student-athletes to achieve at a higher level in the classroom.
DECORAH — Luther College senior Alexander Greiner from Fairfield has been named to the 2013 fall semester dean’s list. Greiner is the son of Michael and Michele Greiner.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must earn a semester grade- point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale and must complete at least 12 credit hours with 10 hours of conventional grades: A, B, C, D.
