Harmony knocks off Pioneer boys
FARMINGTON — A second half scoreless drought prevented the Maharishi School boys’ basketball team from earning its third win of the season Friday in Farmington.
The Pioneers trailed Harmony 23-22 at the half but only scored six more points the rest of the way in a 45-28 loss.
Maharishi School’s Surya Sawhney scored 12 points and finished with 11 rebounds and five assists. Suraj Pullapantulla and Rashan Anderson scored five points apiece.
Harmony jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Maharishi School closed the first quarter on a 14-5 run. Again in the second period, Harmony built a 22-14 lead and the Pioneers closed the deficit to one point at the half.
Pioneers’ offensive struggles continue
Maharishi School’s scoreless drought from Friday stretched into Saturday’s game vs. Central Lee.
Maharishi School was held to three points in the first quarter of the weekend game and fell behind 32-11 by halftime en route to a 60-24 loss.
Surya Sawhney led the Pioneers with nine points and Avery Mulleaneaux scored eight. Rashan Anderson grabbed five rebounds, while Suraj Pullapantulla swiped away four steals.
Next up for the Pioneers (2-13) is a game against one-loss Burlington Notre Dame Tuesday.
