Harwood awarded all-division accolades
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Fairfield High School graduate and current St. Cloud Technical & Community College student Corbin Harwood was recently selected to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference All-Division baseball team for the 2013 season.
The third baseman and pitcher made the Southern Division team for his work on the mound as a college freshman. In 34 innings pitched, Harwood tallied 39 strikeouts and had a record of 4-2 with a 2.10 ERA.
Harwood was selected alongside four other St. Cloud teammates, including Southern Division Player of the Year Kevin Kramer. His coach, Jason Fischer, was named the division’s Coach of the Year. Harwood was one of only four first-year players chosen to the all-division team, with the other 13 spots going to second-year students.
In his senior year at FHS last summer, Harwood was awarded MVP honors at the Trojans’ end-of-season banquet. He also was selected to the First Team All-Southeast Conference for the third consecutive year, leading Fairfield in batting average (.326), home runs (9) and runs scored (31). He posted a 2.31 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings of work.
