Hat Day raising donations for Relay for Life at FMS
Young Cancer Exterminators Hunter and James Bechtel are once again enlisting the assistance of their Fairfield Middle School classmates and staff to help raise money for the Jefferson County Relay for Life by making a minimum donation of $1 to the American Cancer Society.
The middle school students and staff will be participating in Hat Day Friday to show their support of the fight against cancer.
Students and staff should bring their donation of $1 or more to the commons Friday morning. They will receive a Relay for Life sticker from the American Cancer Society to affix to their school-appropriate ball caps or hat. Only hats, with the stickers, can be worn for the day.
James Bechtel said Hat Day raised more than $224 last year, and he’s hoping to beat that this year. Hunter Bechtel explained he and his brother help their mom raise money for Relay for Life in honor of their grandma, Linda Bechtel, who is a cancer survivor.
Parents with questions or students who would like to participate, but need financial assistance, can contact FMS associate principal Matt Jones at 472-5019.
