Health center auxilary brunch honors, encourages members
The Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary hosted its annual Spring Appreciation and Membership Brunch April 7 at Fairfield First United Methodist Church.
The theme was “You Are Our Sunshine and You Light up Our Life.” Mark Schafer designed a drawing, and Judy Herzog crated banners for the theme.
President Susan Muntz welcomed the members. She recognized Mary Margaret Horras for serving 17 years in various positions, Betty Luzadder for serving as the Gift Shop caller for 20 years, and June Lowenberg for serving as community service chairwoman.
The officers inducted into the Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary Board were Emily Ledger, Jean Keller, Ann Shipman, Saundra Ensminger, Kathy Gerard, Kathy Horn, Connie Ferrell and Susan Muntz.
The health center gave each member a magnify card light, and the auxiliary donated sun catchers for the attendees to take home.
The group enjoyed singing songs and piano music played by Sue Long. Linda Zelinski, social events chairwoman, presented the door prizes of the table flower arrangements and place mats sewn by the Judie Herzog.
The brunch consisted of quiche, scones, Easter candy, mints, juices and coffee.
The gathering is held each year to honor members and to promote new members.
The auxiliary operates both the Hospital Gift Shop and The Bargain Box. Profits from these are used to meet the needs of the health center, the patients and their families. The auxiliary also awards scholarships totaling $18,000 annually to recent and non-ecent graduates who are pursuing studies in a health related field.
The Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary currently has 289 members. Members can choose to be active or nonactive. The annual dues are $10. Call Connie Ferrell at 472-2917 or Susan Muntz at 472-4960 if interested in becoming a member.
