Help from the Elks
Fairfield Elks Lodge 1192 has awarded a $2,000 community investment grant to the ARC of Jefferson & Nearby Counties. The grant will help fund individuals attending Camp Courageous of Iowa. Last year, ARC funded $18,500 in camp fees to send local and area individuals to camp. Camp Courageous of Iowa is a year-round respite care and recreational facility for individuals of all ages with disabilities. Vision, mental, physical and other disabilities are typical of individuals served. Camp Courageous was founded on and continues to operate on donations only. The ARC of Jefferson & Nearby Counties is the local chapter of a national nonprofit advocacy organization committed to reducing or eliminating barriers for persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities. The ARC is funded through memberships, donations and fund-raising projects.
