Holy Toledo, what a career!
Fairfield native Milo Hamilton, left, is presented with a proclamation from Angie Lamb on behalf of Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy declaring him a Fairfield Most Distinguished Citizen at his retirement blue star gala Oct. 16 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. The proclamation was in honor of his life’s work in the field of broadcasting, which earned him membership into the National Radio Hall of Fame and National Baseball Hall of Fame. Hamilton started his career in the broadcasting booth in 1953, where he called games for the St. Louis Browns, Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, and from 1985 until his retirement this fall, the Houston Astros. Nolan Ryan, Craig Biggio and others offered in-person tributes at the gala, and Hank Aaron also was on hand to honor the 85-year-old Hamilton.
