Hometown Rewards’ games day set
Fairfield’s Hometown Rewards Program is hosting Energy Games Day from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfield Public Library.
Energy Games Day is part of Fairfield’s Hometown Rewards Program Second Saturdays Workshop Series. It is free, open to the public and appropriate for all ages.
Families can warm up with Energy Bingo and then enter Family Feud to test how energy-wise they are.
Bingo participants will play for prizes, such as LED flashlights, light bulbs, coloring books, pencils and bookmarks.
The grand prize of Family Feud is an energy-saving kit valued at more than $100, including supplies, such as, a programmable thermostat, light-bulbs, a power strip, water heater blanket and weatherization supplies.
Organizers say everyone will leave with a prize.
This is one of the last workshops in the Second Saturdays series. Attending a Second Saturday workshop helps Fairfield meet its goals for the Hometown Rewards Program. If the community meets all the goals of the Hometown Rewards Program, Alliant Energy will help fund the installation of solar panels on the Fairfield Public Library.
The Second Saturdays workshops are a partnership between the city of Fairfield, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Alliant Energy, KRUU 100.1FM, KMCD-Classic 96, Hy-Vee, COSC and the Fairfield Public Library.
The workshops provide practical information about how residents can change their behaviors to save energy and money, conserve resources and reduce their carbon footprint.
