Hoops for Heart
Eighth-grader Orion Riley tries to dribble around his classmate, Gunnar Mattson, during the Fairfield Middle School’s Hoops for Heart fundraiser Friday in the gymnasium. Fifty-five students split into teams of three to play each other and celebrate their successful fundraising efforts. The event raised money for the American Heart Association. This year, the students raised $1,799.21. The top fundraisers were: Jacob Scotton, sixth grade, $175; James Kurka, eighth grade, $100; and Taylor Myers, eighth grade, $80. The middle school raised a total of $2,952.21 for the American Heart Association this year through the Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart fundraisers.
