Hootman celebrating 100th birthday
Marybelle Hootman will be joining the list of centenarians when she turns 100 years old Friday.
Mrs. Hootman was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Selma. She has lived most of her life in the Selma-Douds communities.
Mrs. Hootman and her late husband James had three children: Donna Jean Copeland and husband Roy, both deceased; Kriss Hootman and wife Raye of Douds; and Mary Alice “Midge” Linge and husband Bob of Washington, Iowa. She also has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
An open house in Mrs. Hootman’s honor will be hosted by her family from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Douds Community Center in Douds.
