Hunts bring Irish step dancing, fiddling, vocals to Sondheim stage
The Hunts will bring an indie-folk sound, thunderous step dancing and high powered bluegrass fiddling at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center, for the Performing Arts.
From Chesapeake, Va., the seven brothers and sisters are driven by a passion for creating compelling music and bring an amazing chemistry and powerful presence to the stage.
The award-winning Hunts perform Celtic, bluegrass, inspirational, country and light rock, plus a diverse repertoire of original compositions. Champion fiddling is mixed with a percussive blend of world-ranked step dancing, drums, djembes, ashikos and cajons. Acoustic and electric guitars accompany soaring piano melodies and beautiful vocal harmonies.
“This is true, refreshing family entertainment,” said Rustin Lippincott, exective director of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. “The concert will feature Celtic, bluegrass, inspirational and popular tunes, offering a unique blend of diversity to the Sondheim center audience.”
Having been instilled with a love of music from a very young age, all seven Hunts are phenomenally talented vocalists and multi-instrumentalists. Their songs are meticulously driven by violin, acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and piano, and rounded out with crisp harmonies.
The Hunts are part of the 2012-13 Sondheim Artist Series and are presented by Danaher Oil Company, MidwestOne Bank and Cambridge Investment Research, Inc.
Tickets are $27 for Zone 1, $23 for Zone 2, $19 for Zone 3. Tickets are available at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Ticket Office, by phone to 472-2787 and online at www.FairfieldACC.com.
