Ide Gymnastics of Fairfield competed in its first meet of the 2016-17 season Nov. 2 at the Topsy Turvey Turkey Tumble in Ottumwa.

The team brought 21 athletes and 21 first places. Among those who were first place winners were Marissa Rupe in all three events: trampoline, double mini trampoline and power tumbling in the advanced level. Sarah McAvan, Maya Lane, Lillian Haynes and Kya Goodrich all were double winners in both trampoline and double mini trampoline. Amber Burroughs, Lillie Sage, Alma White, Kaitlyn Greiner, Andrew Twohill, Tori Haynes, Cecilia Murphy, Lauren Martin, Emma Metcalf and Iris Lane also had first place in trampoline.

Both Delmira and Irma Jara brought in second places in all three events. Sophia Murphy was in second place in both double mini trampoline and power tumbling. Kiya Christopher was in second place in both trampoline and double mini trampoline.

Isobel Murphy brought home third places in both double mini trampoline and power tumbling, while Adria Goodrich earned fourth place in trampoline.

All the athletes had many more trophies than can be mentioned here. Needless to say, their coaches Jeff and Jeanne Ide are proud of this first meet and are excited to see what the rest of the season brings.

Those who wish to see this 2016 trampoline First Place State team in action can see it in action from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
