Indian Hills to hold baseball camp
Indian Hills Community College will be holding a baseball camp on Dec. 27 and 28 at its indoor baseball facility located at 721 N. 1st St. in Centerville.
Indian Hills coach Cam Walker will hold private instruction for the campers in pitching, hitting and catching. Walker played for the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres during his playing days. He has taken Indian Hills to the JUCO World Series multiple times since becoming the coach in 1988.
Assistant coaches Brandon Crisp, Brett Monaghan and Bartt Carney will also be helping with the camp.
The camp is for players eight years of age and older. Each camper will receive a free T-shirt.
“We will teach fundamentals to improve a player’s capabilities so he’s prepared to play the game of baseball,” Walker said. “Equally important, we’ll show the campers techniques they can practice to improve their skills on their own after the camp is over.”
The camp will be broken into two sessions. The Dec. 27 session will include pitching and catching. Players 8-12 years old will go from 9 a.m. to noon, while players 13 years and up will go from 1-4 p.m.
The Dec. 28 session will feature hitting, and the times will be the same as the previous day.
The fee is $50 for one session and $95 for both sessions. Interested campers can call Crisp at 856-2143 ext. 2226 to receive a registration form or for more information. Players can also register at the camp site. Registration must be mailed in advance or done by phone.
