Iowa Arts Council grant applications due

Apr 10, 2013

DES MOINES — The Iowa Arts Council is reminding Iowans of a May 1 application deadline for its Project Grant and Job Creation Grant programs for activities taking place in fiscal year 2014, which is July 1 to June 30, 2014.

The Project Grant Program offers grants from $1,000 to $10,000 and is available to individual artists, non-profit organizations, schools, tribal councils and local, county, state and federal government agencies.

The program is available to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations in Iowa, local and county government agencies and tribal councils. Applicants may request $5,000-$10,000 toward one new, full-time position or $1,000-$5,000 toward one or more new, part-time or contract positions.

The deadline to submit applications for Project Grants and Job Creation Grants is 4:30 p.m. May 1 at the Iowa Arts Council, State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust St., Des Moines. This is not a postmark deadline.

Guidelines and applications form can be found at www.iowaartscouncil.org.

The Project Grant Program replaces Iowa Community Cultural Major and Mini Grants and offers a new, streamlined application format and updated application criteria.

Project Grants create opportunities for the arts to flourish in Iowa by investing in individual, organizational and community projects that positively impact the vitality of the arts in the state, demonstrate public value, and support IAC funding priorities, which include, collaboration and partnership, excellence and innovation and impact and accessibility.

The Job Creation Grant Program provides funds to support the creation of quality jobs for Iowans that contribute to the cultural vitality of Iowa by supporting salaries, wages and job benefits for current Iowa residents. Employment must be tied to a cultural project and must be a new, permanent full or part-time position or a new contract position. Funding for Job Creation Grants is made possible through an appropriation from the Iowa Legislature.
