Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association names all-state team
The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has named its high school baseball all-star team for this past season.
Two local prep athletes were recognized. They both have received a considerable amount of praise.
Joseph Hietpas of Fairfield made the All-State Class 3A second team as a pitcher. Hietpas started 10 game and held opponents to a .191 batting average. In 56.1 innings, Hietpas allowed only 12 earned runs and wound up with a 1.49 ERA. He also recorded 101 strikeouts.
Robby Laughlin of Van Buren made the All-State Class 1A second team as a utility player. The junior Warrior third baseman hit 3 homer runs and drove in 37 runs. Laughlin posted a .385 batting average while also having a walk to strikeout ratio of 2-1. He also had a .604 slugging percentage.
The positive thing for both the Trojans and the Warriors is this: both players will be back next season.
