Iowa solar tax credits double from 2012
DES MOINES (AP) — The Iowa Revenue Department says the state awarded $1.36 million in tax credits to Iowa people and companies for installing solar energy systems last year.
The Des Moines Register says 264 credits were awarded. The tax credits almost hit the yearly cap of $1.5 million.
In 2012 tax credits worth $621,000 were awarded.
The department says 65 applications received in 2013 couldn’t be processed in time for the report’s release, so the credit numbers could go up.
Ninety-seven of the tax credits were awarded to corporations for a total of nearly $988,000. The remaining 167 were given to individuals for a total of more than $368,000.
