IPTV wins award for excellence
JOHNSTON — The National Educational Telecommunications Association honored Iowa Public Television with an award for excellence for the 2015 Iowa State Fair -Special Event Promotion.
The awards presentation was a highlight of NETA’s annual professional development conference, held this week in Baltimore, Maryland.
IPTV has covered the Iowa State Fair for 46 years, and in 2015, IPTV launched a new, interactive booth. The award recognized promotional efforts to engage with Iowans and fair fans on the ground at the fair, over the air with the nightly broadcast programs and online at Iptv.org and through social media.
Judges called the promotional efforts, which are a collaboration across all IPTV departments and Friends of Iowa Public Television, “very creative and original,” and the interactive booth “impressive.”
The NETA Awards are annual recognition of public broadcasting’s finest work, a tradition established in the 1960s by the pioneering Southern Educational Communications Association from which NETA was formed.
NETA is a professional association organized in 1997 to serve and support public television licensees and affiliated educational organizations. The organization has member stations in 43 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands. NETA is headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina.
