Jefferson County Cattlemen hold membership dinner Nov. 26
Jefferson County Cattlemen held a membership dinner at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
Nearly 80 people in attendance enjoyed a free steak dinner and door prizes.
Several guest speakers contributed to the meeting sharing information from their area of expertise. Matt Deppe, CEO of Iowa Cattlemen Association, talked about the importance of the organization and its involvement in working for the cattle producer.
Scott Heater from Iowa Beef Industry Council shared information about the Beef Check Off dollars and how they support the industry. Byron Leu from Iowa State University Extension spoke about how ISU and Iowa Cattlemen Association work together on informational and educational events for the cattle producer.
The keynote speaker was Mike Pearson, host of “Market to Market” on Iowa Public Television. Pearson shared his personal experiences along with industry news and information pertaining to the cattle producer and friends of the industry.
Jefferson County Cattlemen President Adam Ledger and vice president Dan Delaney summarized the activities of the local organization for the last six months. Several ideas for future activities and contribution to the community were mentioned. Ledger also asked the audience their expectations of Jefferson County Cattlemen.
The next meeting for the organization is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Best Western Fairfield Inn. Heater is scheduled to be sharing additional information about the Beef Check Off dollars and how they work for the producer. All cattle producers and friends of the industry are encouraged to attend and participate in the meeting.
