IOWA STATE CHAPTER OF P.E.O.
The 122nd Annual Convention of Iowa State Chapter of P.E.O. was held May 31 through June 1 in Des Moines.
Liz Bunnell of Chapter OO in Fairfield was installed as state president. She also celebrated being a 50-year member.
Bunnell is the second state president from Fairfield. The first was Flora Herring of Chapter C in 1896-1897.
Members of all three Fairfield P.E.O. chapters, C, MB and OO, rented a bus to travel to the convention, surprise Bunnell and see her installation.
For her theme, Bunnell has chosen “P.E.O. — Nurturing Renaissance Women.”
The P.E.O. sisterhood was founded at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. It is a philanthropic educational organization in which women celebrate the advancement of women and promote educational opportunities using five international philanthropies. The sisterhood has awarded scholarships, grants and loans totaling more than $248 million to more than 93,000 women.
