JEFFERSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU WOMEN
Jefferson County Farm Bureau Women met for their monthly business meeting May 6 at the Pizza Ranch in Sigourney.
Jeanine Peiffer was hostess, with Julie Fiske, co-president, presiding.
Roll call was answered by nine members. One guest was welcomed. Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. Discussion was held regarding the proposed trip to Des Moines to tour the World Food Prize exhibit. It was decided to plan the trip for the first Tuesday in October, which would be the regular monthly meeting date. Christine Schiedel is to look into the possibility of renting a small bus or van for the anticipated trip. More details will be worked out during the organization’s September meeting.
Julie Fiske is compiling members’ preferences for the “priority topics” committees, which were made during the March meeting.
Members agreed to help with Ag in the Classroom activities set from 2-3 p.m. June 26-27 in the country schoolhouse during the Greater Jefferson County Fair. Regional Farm Bureau director John Sandbothe and Carol Messer will collaborate on fun, ag-related activities to share with the children.
Julie Fiske asked members to be aware of Heartland Co-op’s efforts to build a proposed grain facility in Jefferson County.
The meeting was adjourned. Members then toured the Dumont Museum south of Sigourney.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 2, with Julie Fiske as hostess.
