JEFFERSON COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS
The Jefferson County Master Gardeners meeting was called to order by President Julie Johnston at 5:05 p.m. April 28 at the Jefferson County ISU Extension Office, with 15 members present.
Gerri Lyon read the secretary and treasurer’s reports. Both were approved as read.
The spring plant sale has been set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 24 at the Fairfield Farmers’ Market. The sale will be advertised. Members signed up to work a shift. The Mahaska County Master Gardeners’ plant sale is from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the Oskaloosa Farmers’ Market.
The plant exchange at the Fairfield Farmers’ Market is set for May 19. Several members are involved in this trade of perennials.
The domain name for the website was discussed and chosen: jeffersoncountyiowamastergardeners.org.
Maasdam Barn workday was at 4 p.m. Monday. The Fairfield city nodes are in need of volunteers for clean-up. The Jefferson County Health Center needs assistance in its landscaping, and the Stone House in Bentonsport could use volunteers for new plantings. Members should notify Sandi Dimmitt if they can donate time.
The next meeting date is set for 5:30 p.m. May 19 at Sandi Dimmitt’s home for a potluck.
2015 ISU Master Gardener requirements have been updated. Twelve hours for education and 20 hours for volunteering will be required to stay certified.
