Jefferson County, southeast Iowa in flash flood watch
Jefferson County and much of Iowa, Illinois and Missouri are in a flash flood watch through tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service expects showers and thunderstorms to continue through this afternoon and evening.
If thunderstorms remain stationary or move over the same area, 2 to 3 inches of rain may occur within a few hours. This would result in flash flooding.
The strongest storms in the area may produce large hail and possibly damaging winds.
Rain is expected to change to snow by Thursday night.
A flash flood watch means flash flooding is possible. Monitor forecasts and take action if flash flooding warnings are issued or flash flooding develops.
