JV baseball picks up ‘W’ in home tilt
Fairfield’s JV baseball team got its season started Monday with a home doubleheader vs. Williamsburg.
The Trojans lost their first game 5-3 before bouncing back to claim a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
Nick Jackson allowed four runs — one earned — in four innings to earn the win in the nightcap. Jackson gave up two hits and tallied a strikeout. In relief of Jackson, Wyatt Stark allowed no runs and struck out four in two innings.
Alex Christensen slapped two hits with one RBI, and Jordan Reid hit an RBI double. Dillon Shelby went 1-3 with one run batted in.
In game one, starter Cam Baumann logged four innings and allowed just one earned run while striking out five. Giovanni Cingire took the loss in relief, tossing two innings of four-run ball. Cingire fanned four.
Offensively, the Trojans’ Cody Craff went 1-for-2, and Stark and Alex Simpson knocked in one run each.
Next up for the Trojans is a JV/varsity doubleheader vs. Ottumwa Friday in Fairfield.
