JV baseball splits SEC home tilt
The Fairfield JV baseball team rebounded from a 3-2 defeat to Mount Pleasant in the opener of Monday’s Southeast Conference doubleheader to take a 6-1 victory in game two.
Wyatt Stark pitched the Trojans to the second game victory, going three innings and allowing one run. He gave up two hits, allowed two walks and fanned four. Nick Jackson pitched the final three innings, giving up no runs on one hit. Jackson walked one and punched out three.
From the batter’s box, Jordan Reid was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and Giovanni Cingerie knocked in two runs. Stark was 1-for-1 and Cam Baumann had one RBI.
In the opening 3-2 loss, Baumann allowed three runs — one earned — in four innings of work. He gave up one hit, walked three and struck out five. Jordan Whitney allowed one run in two innings, striking out one.
Jackson went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Cody Craff and Whitney each hit one double. Baumann and Reid each recorded one single.
Fairfield’s next game is a home JV/varsity doubleheader Wednesday vs. Davis County.
